WEDDING SEASON has arrived and one of the UK’s leading celebrity stylists has shared his tips to look the part this summer.
Gareth Scourfield has dressed a whole host of celebrities including James Bond star Daniel Craig and Academy Award winner Colin Firth. Recently, he spoke exclusively to luxury menswear brand London Sock Company.
“I’d start with navy for a classic British wedding,” said Scourfield. “A nice mid-blue can also give a great foundation for the rest of your outfit. Dove grey to light charcoal are also good alternatives for a spring or summer wedding.
“Generally a formal two or three piece suit is a failsafe. However, the rise in blazer options gives some smart alternatives, especially if the invite indicates a less formal affair.
“However, look for a contrast. Don’t try to match your blazer to your trousers. For example, contrast a navy blazer with grey wool or stone cotton tailored trousers.
“With shirts, I’d tend to stick to white and subtle. No bold patterns and definitely avoid black or navy. If going for a colour, try very pale ice blue or light pink. They evoke a nice summer feel.
“I’d always wear a tie, even if you don’t usually or the invite suggests a more ‘casual vibe’. You can always dispense of it once the party gets started!
“Leave pattern and colour to shirts, socks, ties, pocket squares or the odd t-shirt and if you go for a double breasted blazer, keep it slim. Not too long in the body and not loud in pattern or colour.
“Most importantly, stick to what you’re comfortable with. If in doubt, keep it simple.“
Supermodel David Gandy is an investor and ambassador for the company who have now become a £1m+ turnover business and growing 2 to 3 x year on year.
The London Sock Company offer a bespoke wedding service for their elegant and colourful products, ensuring the groom looks his best from head to toe. Customers can personalise their socks, using the specialist embroidery package, adding their initials, the special date, or whatever takes their fancy, so they’ll have a lasting memento of the big day.
It’s also a perfect opportunity for the groom to thank his best man by gifting him a pair of socks, packaged up in a luxury box, accompanied with a personal message.
The founders, Ryan Palmer and Dave Pickard started their journey with a simple observation; that people really do notice your socks. Palmer said: “Our stylish socks are a perfect fit for classic, traditional British weddings, and so we wanted to provide our customers with something truly personal for the groom and groomsmen.”
Ryan and Dave are ex corporate professionals who left their jobs in the City of London with an ambition to create a truly exciting and aspirational menswear brand, focused on quality, assured style and social responsibility. They’re now on a mission: to help modern men add style, personality and be noticed for the right reasons by simply wearing quality, stylish socks.
Celebrity clients include high profile actors, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Casey Affleck, Matt Smith and Tom Hiddleston.
