Go to the 5 Star InterAlpen hotel and spa resort in Austria you say? OK lets go there! As owner of Luxury News Online I receive amazing invitations to visit some really spectacular places, but the InterAlpen hotel and spa located high up in the Austrian snow capped mountains really has been a highlight. Situated in a unique, secluded location near the popular holiday resort Seefeld in Tyrol.

Firstly I would like to thank my friends at Audi, especially Ian Cooper for introducing me to the marketing team at the
InterAlpen, and Regine Sparber Head of Marketing and PR at the InterAlpen.
This was my first trip to Austria, and not being a huge fan of the cold, a snow themed holiday has never been a huge priority. But now having returned home I will be visiting the
InterAlpen for ski and hike every year – it was that special.
Flying out from London
Gatwick to
Innsbruck the flight took only 1 hour 30 minutes, a very short time frame for somewhere so magical.
Meeting me at Innsbruck was the hotel driver, with
my name on a board – the hotel making me feel special immediately! The motorway lay ahead for the 40 minute journey to the hotel, culminating in a drive through
Telfs and then up through the winding mountain roads, driving higher and higher above the snow line and then the views opened up to the valley below over looking the town of
Telfs.
Pine trees, mountains and snow; a horse drawn cart trotting along as we rounded a corner and through the large wooden archway for the InterAlpen Hotel, the sweeping long driveway and then to my surprise, we drove straight into the hotel, but we didn’t stop in the underground car park, no we carried on right into the hotel itself! This was such a special and unique experience. Greeting me as my taxi door was opened for me were very welcoming concierge services, wooden paneling and Austrian marquetry, thick piled carpet and luxury lifts – and all before I had hardly stepped from the car! Wow!
Luxury and quality service can present itself in so many different ways, taking my case straight to my room without having to worry about hauling my heavy bags in lifts and across reception areas and corridors, this was all taken care of at The InterAlpen even before I realised! As part of the internationally successful family business
Liebherr, the hotel near Seefeld stands for the highest quality, best service and attentive hospitality. Dr Hans Liebherr, the hotel’s founder, successfully realised his forward-looking vision of a grand hotel in the mountains with the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol.
But what a welcome awaited me as I walked from the lift, the doors of which I might add were thoughtfully painted in typical Austrian colours and designs. I have never felt so welcome at a hotel as I did at the
InterAlpen, all the staff were very tasteful attired in the traditional Austrian dress, immaculately turned out and just so polite and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, they all knew my name, ushered me into an easy chair with an Espresso to wait for the head of marketing and PR, Regine Sparber. I had been speaking with Regine for several weeks prior to my visit so was really looking forward to meeting her.
The Esspesso was served just how it should be, on a silver tray, a glass of water and a local biscuit. Just faultless.
Regine was a lovely lady, very welcoming and a true marketing professional. We began a guided tour of the hotel, beginning with the ground floor, from the spectacular grand staircase, to the bakery, restaurant areas, to the extensive bedrooms. Since opening in 1985, this luxurious hotel near Seefeld has accommodated sophisticated guests looking for a special atmosphere in its 282 rooms and suites.
This hotel is spectacular in every detail. The first point you notice is the cleanliness, a dedicated team of people keep the property in absolutely immaculate condition, everything looks brand new, and I take my hat off to them for the amazing job they do and the pride in their work which they so obviously have.
The next and most notable feature of the hotel is tradition. You will be left in no doubt you are in Austria, thick wooden beams, hand carved with local patterns and features, stunning wall lights in differing flower designs and metal work features, a huge log fire in the bar, large expanses of leather along the bar tops, sumptuous leather seating and lounge areas to rival any private home that offers privacy but also luxurious comfort and peace.
The Gault Millau Austria decorated gourmet cuisine also shows greatness and the creative kitchen team is rewarded for its performance every year.
Lets take the The classic Café Wien with a typical café atmosphere and a french twist to the decor, the main counter with coffee machine and displays of delicious cakes and pastries takes centre stage, with very comfortable seating all around the edge of the room with Alpine views onto the patio.
There’s a fully equipped function room, which could be used for weddings, a nightclub for parties and discos with a huge bar, clever lighting and sumptuous seating. Next door a spectacular humidor for the smokers amongst you, in the English style with dark wood paneling and leather chairs, glass cabinets with impressive ranges of Cigars and drinks.
Full conference and meeting room and events facilities are housed within the
InterAlpen that can cater for any business meeting, conference or seminar. The Liebherr company, which has been family-run ever since its inception, is currently being operated in its second and third generation. The international business, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machines, is represented with 130 companies in almost 50 countries on all continents.
The innovative, independent group covers different divisions: Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol is one of five other hotels on an upmarket level in Ireland, Germany and Austria to contribute to the success of the business in the hotel sector.
The centrepiece to the hotel is undoubtbely the grand staircase, this is truly spectacular made from solid local wood, with fountains each side and very large chandeliers. To the top of the staircase is a computer area and a library/reading area with lazy chars. Throughout the course of my stay, I found myself just walking up and down the staircase just because it was so amazing!
Luxury diamond jewellery on sale in the reception area glass cabinets just before the amazing wooden door which lead down marble steps to the spa.
Boy what a spa, this covered the entire ground floor, marble was everywhere from pillars to floors. Glass cabinets with luxury clothing brands and spa treatment creams and oils ran along side, interjected with classically designed side tables and lamps culminating an yet another spectacular staircase to the lower ground floor spa waiting area, with a fountain and stunning metal work and ballestrades.
The hotel even has its own indoor driving range!
When you combine the tranquility of the InterAlpen with the spa and it’s treatments, you feel totally at peace with the world, in the middle of nowhere high up on a mountain, this really is the perfect place to simply get away from absolutely everything. The sauna village at the spa hotel takes you away to a world of alpine cabins: the warming rooms are lovingly decorated in the style of a Tyrolean mountain village. Enjoy the smell of fresh bread during your sauna session in the Tyrolean bakery at a gentle 60 °C, relax at the mountain pasture sauna, herbal steam bath, brine and gem grotto. Afterwards, a treatment at the Kneipp stream meandering through the sauna village reawakens your spirits.
You can strengthen your body and mind in the Alps: personal training, individual therapies and the daily activity programme strengthen muscles and joints while bringing recreation and new joy of life. Leave the daily grind far behind at the 10,000 m² spa garden and let yourself be spoiled by experienced beauticians and therapists in 25 treatment rooms.
The bedrooms have differing styles and sizes depending on how many guests you have, whether you are a family or a single traveller like myself. In any event, the rooms are huge! In actual fact they are so palatial they are bigger than most peoples houses. Each room has a traditional Austrian heater, called the ‘Kachelofen’ with porcelain tiles that forms the centre piece of the room, and indeed these are to be found in the restaurant areas also. My room began with a long hallway, touch key controls for the main service and door key – these are such a good idea! To my left the palatial bathroom, all completely spotless, new and just amazing, I have never seen a hotel bathroom so clean! Toilet, shower, bath, double sink and music options on the speaker system. The exclusively appointed hotel rooms come as standard at the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol. Rooms and spacious deluxe rooms will enchant you with plenty of space, alpine charm and a cosy ambiance. Choose from five spacious room categories for your holiday refuge in Austria from entire suites to single rooms.
Next your very own dressing room, with pine wardrobes, a window through to the bedroom, and another single bed.
The hallway opened out into a large bedroom and seating area, with an office desk, large and very comfortable double bed, a lounge area and a dining area. they say the little things matter the most, and a lovely letter hand signed by Regine Sparber, my very own ‘Sachertorte’ chocolate cake with ‘Welcome’ written on the top, male grooming accessories tied in a bow, fresh fruit and electric curtains operated by a button near the hall, which when drew back, revealed the most spectacular view from a hotel room you may ever see, the Austrian snow capped mountains rose high above the pine trees of Austria and below, the very large outdoor heating pool.

There really is no shortage of things to do, with varied activities or just relax in the huge lounge areas at the InterAplan. I had been booked on a ski hike, coming fully prepared I joined a small group of fellow guests with Patrick, a great guy who is an expert on outdoor winter sports and physical fitness. We had an amazing time, all captured in my video
here. Through the woods, in deep snow, intersected by smooth ski runs which opened out into wide expanses of untouched snow, with spectacular views. In all the hike was around 5k, which was just the right distance. Big thank you to Patrick!

The cuisine at
Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol is a place for artists and experts, where unbelievably delicious indigenous and international treats are created at the highest level – day in, day out. Concentration, experience and the desire to experiment are the vital ingredients for a cook running a top restaurant. The two expert chefs Mario Döring and Peter Wiedner are fuelled by a passion for excellent gourmet cuisine.
The sommelier was hugely knowledgeable and recommend the most fabulous local Austrian wines from a producer he knew personally, in the two evening meals I had, I tried both red and white and these truly were some of the best wines I had ever tasted, the food was sublime, so much attention to detail, perfection can be an over used word, but this really is appropriate here, delicate presentation, coupled with bursting flavours. The salad buffet and deserts were heavenly. All my fellow guests were happy and looked very contented!
Now the pool. You can drift from the panorama pool in the bright spa area, you will be able to enjoy perfect views of the surrounding mountain world. A water gate leads you to the outdoor area of the pool and takes you closer to nature. I took my camera with me on my swim which you can see by clicking
here. You can enjoy candlelight swimming in the pool on Friday or Saturday throughout the winter.
The swimming pool has an unusual ambience from 6.00 pm. Romantic candlelight and quiet music ensure a relaxing atmosphere. Simply enjoy! Lean back in the bubbly Jacuzzi in the outdoor area and breathe the crystal-clear air.
All of the water at the spa world is vitalised by Grander technology. The best water quality, which you can feel: soft, velvet and even silky is how the “vitalised water” feels.
Moments of bliss at the spa and wellness hotel near Seefeld are guaranteed.
With it’s own interconnected restaurant and kitchen preparation area, the pool really is just spectacular! Situated indoors, with an automatic door which opened out when swam through to the outside, the water turned to hot, the steam rose and as you swam through the channel to the cold Alpine air, the snow fell upon your head and you were literally swimming on the side of a mountain! Fabulous, fantastic, amazing! Now couple that with a candle light swim, the main lights turned down after 6pm, coloured candles automatically turned on, soothing music began to play and I was transported into a magical world.
It is hard to sum up my stay at the InterAlpen without being completely biased but I shall anyway! This hotel and spa is faultless in every respect, from the hospitality, the cleanliness, the huge expanses of space, the tranquility, the warm welcome and above all the service. I have been so impressed with the InterAlpen that I hope to visit now every year, if you work hard, or you need to just get away from it all to a luxury hideaway in the mountains of this beautiful country, I can highly recommend this hotel and spa above all others – everyone must visit the InterAlpen to experience this most spectacular of hotels.
Thank you to all the wonderful team at the InterAlpen for making my stay so memorable.
