Simon Bacon Visits the George Michael Auction at Christie’s

Simon Bacon, Britains most exciting new sculptor and artist about town went along to the recent auction of the late George Michael’s art collection at Christie’s and here’s Simon’s first-hand mini-report.

‘The collection includes iconic artists such as Damien Hurst, Tracey Emin, Michael Craig-Martin, Andy Warhol and Mark Quinn.’

Had an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity to see George Michael’s incredible art collection which is being auctioned at Christie’s. The collection represents a unique dialogue between a great British artist and his contemporaries in the visual arts, especially the YBA movement.

The collection includes iconic artists such as Damien Hurst, Tracey Emin, Michael Craig-Martin, Andy Warhol and Mark Quinn. It is a very personal collection and the work is bold and fearless. The show expresses an emotional connection of challenging subjects, including sexuality, identity, life and death and leaves the viewer feeling touched by his world.

The works resonated with me on a deep level because of his desire to challenge what it means to be human.
